Urban Patterns completed a plan for Friends of Trees for a new headquarters that features an outdoor plaza with space for volunteer tree-planters, trees, and fleet parking. Key design drivers include operational efficiency, increasing property value, universal access, and supporting the Friends of Trees mission. Greywater-ready plumbing, energy efficient HVAC and PV-ready energy systems align with the Friends of Trees environment-forward values. The headquarters building incorporates a cross-laminated, timber structure with a glass and wood cladding to evoke the feeling and lightness of being in a forest canopy. Within, creative office space benefits from ground floor kitchen and meeting area accessible from the lobby off the plaza.
