Just Compassion Resource Center

Just Compassion Resource Center

Just Compassion, a nonprofit serving unhoused adults in Washington County, partnered with Urban Patterns to design a two-story resource center offering emergency housing and supportive services. The human-forward facility includes aa access center with dining, showers, and social support on the ground floor, and a 60-bed emergency shelter above. The design prioritizes warmth, dignity, and safety through residential-style finishes, Pacific Northwest-inspired colors, and recycled materials. Spaces support both privacy and connection, with furnishings and art by formerly homeless, local, and BIPOC creators—fostering a welcoming environment where guests feel seen, heard, and valued. Future campus development includes a secondary building with transitional housing and treatment facilities, plus outdoor gathering and community garden areas.
